NAFILean Used on the new Peugeot 508

After the DS brand and the Renault manufacturer, it is now Peugeot’s turn to confirm its interest in hemp. Indeed, the Lion brand was one of the first to be convinced in 2013 by the advantages of using a hemp-filled plastic material for an application on door panels of the 308 thanks to the long-standing belief of the Interval cooperative. . This time it is on the new version of its high-end model 508 that it will use a plastic material produced by APM and containing 20% hemp produced by our French industries for a dashboard element. This will allow a reduction of more than 1 kg per vehicle, ie 22% weight gain on the function concerned. With 80,000 products over six years, the reduction of CO2 emissions over ten years of fleet circulation, with 10,000 km / year / vehicle, is 7,500 tonnes. The reduction in fuel consumption also to make an additional 62 million kilometers for the entire fleet with the same amount of fuel. This type of gain is particularly sought after by manufacturers to meet the new WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure) standard for CO2 emissions, which came into effect on September 1, 2019. This demonstrates that plastics can be more virtuous thanks to the involvement of the entire value chain. In 8 years, more than 13 million vehicles will use this type of material that reduces weight and environmental footprint.
