APM’s Hemp Advantage: Local Fiber, Global Impact

Hemp: A Major Asset for Sustainable Industry

The use of hemp fibers has become an essential trend in modern manufacturing. This bio-based material offers numerous advantages for demanding sectors such as automotive. Today, industry is fully harnessing hemp’s potential to design products that are lightweight, strong, and environmentally responsible.

Natural Fibers with Remarkable Mechanical Properties

Hemp fibers possess outstanding mechanical qualities. Their rigidity and strength reinforce materials, and pairing hemp with polymer matrices boosts the integrity of injection-molded parts. This process delivers high performance in the final products while reducing dependence on petrochemical resources. Using hemp also enables the production of lighter automotive parts, cutting overall component weight.

The Value Chain: From Hemp Fields to Finished Products

We source hemp from the Bourgogne–Franche-Comté region through the Interval cooperative. Our fiber-processing facility, APM TF, lets us enforce rigorous quality control over our materials while supporting the local economy and following an eco-responsible approach.

Future Outlook for Industrial Hemp

Industry’s future rests on responsible materials, and hemp is emerging as a key resource for sustainable development. Technological advances and local partnerships are optimizing its use—particularly in composites such as NAFILean—opening the way to new applications and a circular economy. Hemp is thus becoming a strategic lever for transforming sectors like automotive, backed by the commitment of companies such as APM.
